This glossary defines key terms and functionalities you'll encounter while using the NetronEats platform. Whether you're a new user or a seasoned restaurateur, this glossary will serve as a handy reference guide.

A

Account (User Profile): Your user profile is the central hub of your NetronEats account. It stores your personal information, login credentials, and account settings. Think of it as your digital headquarters for managing your restaurant business on NetronEats. From your user profile, you can:

Create and manage Organizations (your restaurant businesses) within NetronEats. (Note: The number of Organizations you can create may depend on your account plan.)

Set up individual Locations for each of your physical restaurant branches.

Invite additional users with different permission levels to access and manage specific aspects of your NetronEats account.

Access and update your account details, such as contact information, billing preferences, and notification settings.

Choose a strong password and keep your login credentials secure.

App (NetronEats App): Software applications developed by NetronEats or third-party vendors that provide specific functionalities within your restaurant operation. These apps can be accessed through web browsers or mobile devices and are licensed for use at individual Locations within your NetronEats account. Examples of NetronEats Apps include POS (Point-of-Sale), ECOM (online ordering), KDS (Kitchen Display System), and RESERVE (table reservation).

C

Cash: A payment method accepted by NetronEats POS for order transactions.

Card: A payment method accepted by NetronEats POS for order transactions. This can include debit cards, credit cards, or other card-based payment methods.

D

Dashboard (admin): The NetronEats Dashboard is the central command center for your restaurant business. Accessible through a web browser at https://app.netroneats.com it provides a user-friendly interface for managing all aspects of your NetronEats account. As Organisation owner or administrator, you'll have access to a comprehensive set of features for:

Organization Management: Creating and managing Organizations (your restaurant businesses) within NetronEats.

Location Management: Setting up individual Locations for each of your physical restaurant branches. You can specify details like address, operating hours, and contact information for each location.

User Management: Inviting additional users with different permission levels to access and manage specific aspects of your NetronEats account.

App Management: Discovering, purchasing, and licensing various NetronEats Apps for your Locations. You can assign these apps to individual Locations as needed.

Location Settings: Specifying details like currency, time zone, and tax rates relevant to each location.

App Configuration: Configuring specific settings for each app within each location. For example, customizing the layout of your online ordering menu or setting up specific tax rules for your POS system.

Location Overview: Monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs) for your restaurant business, segmented by location.

Settings and Preferences: Accessing and customizing various account settings, such as branding preferences, notification settings, and billing information.

Device: A mobile phone or tablet that can be used to run NetronEats Apps. Devices need to be linked to a specific Location and assigned the appropriate app licenses to function properly.

E

Eat-in: An order method used when a customer wants to dine within the restaurant.

ECOM (Online Food Ordering Web & App): ECOM App that provides your restaurant with a branded online ordering system, including a website and mobile app. Customers can browse your menu, place orders, and arrange for delivery or pickup through Netron ECOM, eliminating the need for third-party delivery services.

K

Kitchen Display System (KDS): Netron KDS is a NetronEats App functioning as a Kitchen Display System. This app wirelessly transmits order details to kitchen printers, allowing your chefs to view and prepare orders efficiently.

Kitchen Printer: A thermal and network-connected printer specifically designed to print kitchen tickets from the Netron KDS app. These tickets instruct chefs on what to prepare for each order.

L

License: A digital token that grants permission to use a specific NetronEats App on a designated device within a particular Location. You can manage app licenses through the NetronEats Dashboard (admin).

M

Menu: A structured list of the various food and drink items offered by your restaurant within NetronEats. Menus are designed to present your offerings in a clear and visually appealing way, and typically include:

Menu Groups: Categories that organize your products within the menu. For example, you might have separate menu groups for Appetizers, Main Courses, and Desserts.

Modifiers: Optional additions or subtractions to a product offered through NetronEats POS. For example, adding extra cheese to a pizza might be a modifier with an additional cost, and the price might differ slightly between eating in at the restaurant and ordering for delivery.

Modifiers Group: A collection of modifiers managed within NetronEats. Modifiers Groups can specify minimum and maximum selections a user can make when choosing modifiers for an order item.

O

Order: A representation of a customer's selection of menu items and desired service method (eat-in, takeaway, delivery, pickup). Orders are created and managed through the NetronEats POS app.

Order Discount: A reduction in the total order amount, applied during checkout through NetronEats POS. Discounts can be offered as a fixed amount or a percentage of the order total.

Order Entry: The NetronEats POS screen used to create new orders or modify existing ones. This screen allows staff to select menu items, apply modifiers, and add notes to orders.

Order Line (Product): An individual item or selection within a larger order. An order can consist of multiple order lines, each representing a single menu item or product.

Order List: A record of all orders placed for the current day at a specific Location, accessible through the NetronEats POS app.

Order Method: The way a customer chooses to receive their order. NetronEats POS supports various order methods including eat-in, takeaway, delivery, and pickup.

Order No (Daily Order Number): A unique identifier assigned to each order placed through NetronEats POS on a given day. This number resets to 1 at the beginning of each new day.

Order Status: The current stage of an order within the NetronEats POS system. Order statuses can reflect different stages, such as "New," "Sent," or "Completed."

Order Subtotal: The total amount of all order lines (products) before taxes, discounts, and service charges are applied.

Order Total: The final amount payable by the customer, including the order subtotal, taxes, discounts, and service charges.

Order Total Widget: A section of the NetronEats POS app that displays the order total amount, incorporating taxes, payments, discounts, service charges, and the remaining balance for the order.

P

Passcode: A security code required to log in to the NetronEats POS app on a specific device.

Payments: The function within NetronEats POS used to process customer payments for their orders. The system supports various payment methods such as cash and card (credit or debit).

Print Bill: A function within NetronEats POS that sends the order details to a bill printer, generating a customer receipt.

Product (Order Line or Item) with Pricing based on Order Methods: The individual menu items or dishes your restaurant offers. Each product can be linked to a specific menu group or subgroup for better organization. Products typically include a description and a price. It can have an associated price that can vary depending on the chosen order method (e.g., eat-in, takeaway, delivery).

R

RESERVE (Netron RESERVE): The App designed for online table reservation. Customers can use Netron RESERVE to book tables at your restaurant through your website or branded mobile app.

S

Section: A designated area within your restaurant, used for table organization within NetronEats POS. For example, your restaurant might have separate sections for the patio, indoor dining, and outdoor seating.

Send: A function within NetronEats POS used to finalize an order. Once an order is sent, it is transmitted to the kitchen display system and the customer's chosen service method is initiated (e.g., printing a kitchen ticket for preparation or sending a delivery notification).

Service Charge: An additional fee applied to an order through NetronEats POS. Service charges can be used to cover costs such as delivery fees or bag charges.

Shopping Cart (or Cart): The section of the NetronEats POS app that displays the customer's selected order items (products) before checkout.

T

Tables: A listing of all tables within your restaurant, accessible through the NetronEats POS app. Tables can be assigned to specific sections for better organization.

Takeaway: An order method used when a customer wants to pick up their food order and take it elsewhere to consume.

Ticket: A digital record of an order sent to kitchen or bar printers. Tickets typically don't include pricing information and are used for order preparation.

U

User (or Profile or Account): A person with a NetronEats account who can access and interact with the platform's features. Users can be assigned different permission levels depending on their role within your restaurant organization (e.g., administrator, staff member).

V

Void: A function within NetronEats POS used to remove an order line (product) from the shopping cart if the order status is still "New." Voided items are not included in the final order.
